Pastor Wilna Pierre, a Chaplain on our team in Haiti, has written a series of short devotions to encourage those who support our ministry. Today’s devotion is about Jesus’ words on loving in difficult circumstances.
Devotions were translated by Denise Dent.
“Li anseye nou pou nou renmen paran nou yo e pran swen yo menm nan monan difisil.”
Nou pwal gade ansanm kòmantè sou 3e pawòl Jezi sou lakwa. Nou pral li nan Jan 19: 25-27.
“Bò kwa Jezi a te gen manman l’ ak sè manman l’, Mari, madanm Kleopas la, ansanm avèk Mari, moun lavil Magdala a. Jezi wè manman l’ ansanm ak disip li te renmen an toupre li. Li di manman l’ konsa: Madanm, men pitit ou.”
Twazyèm pawòl Jezi sou lakwa: “Madanm, men pitit ou; li di disip la, men manman w.”
Pandan ministè kris sou latè, te gen yon gwoup fanm kite asiste li. Se te Mari, Mari, manman Jezi, ak Salome. Gwoup fanm sa yo te swiv Jezi Kris kiska lakwa, yo tap asiste soufrans sovè a pandan Kris sou lakwa. Jezi te gade manmanl epi li wè Jan, disip li te pi renmen an, e li di: “Madanm men pitit ou” epi li di Jan “pitit men manmanw.”
Prezans Mari bò lakwa ak pawòl Jezi te di Mari fè nou fè 3 remak enpòtan:
- Akonplisman yon pwofesi
- Lamou yon manman pou pitit li
- Responsabilite yon pitit anvè paranl
Jezi ban nou yon ekzanp. Li anseye nou pou nou renmen paran nou yo e pran swen yo menm nan monan difisil. Nan 1 Timote 5:8 pawòl Bondye di: “Si you mounpa pran swen fanmi li, sitou moun kap viv lakay li, li nye konfyans li nan Bondye.”
Panse, reflechi e pran desizyon ki nesesè.
“He teaches us to love others and to care for them even in difficult circumstances.”
We will look together at the commentary of Jesus’ 3rd words on the cross. We will read in John 19: 25-27.
“But standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said unto his mother, Woman, behold your son!”
Jesus’ third words on the cross: “Woman, behold your son; then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.”
During Christ’s earthly ministry, a group of women who helped him. They were Mary, Mary Magdalene, the mother of Jesus, and Salome. This group of women followed Jesus Christ to the cross, witnessing the Savior’s suffering while Christ on the cross.
Mary’s presence at the cross and Jesus’ words to Mary make 3 important points:
Fulfillment of a prophecy
A mother’s love for her child
A child’s responsibility to the parent
Jesus gives us an example. He teaches us to love others and to care for them even in difficult circumstances. In 1 Timothy 5: 8, God says: “If anyone does not take care of his family, especially those who live in his house, he denies his faith in God.”
Think, think and make the necessary decisions.
