I Corinthians 12:4-6 “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.”

Andrea Mathes (1 of 1)

We have an amazing God! Daily, He reminds us of His sovereignty and goodness. Daily, He provides for us exactly what we need, exactly when it’s needed. Despite the roadblocks this world can throw at us, God still reigns. God continues to grow Many Hands For Haiti, as it seeks to serve Him more, by adding Andrea Mathes to their staff as Administrative and Marketing Assistant. She will be responsible for fielding phone calls, data entry, creating and updating presentation files, working with travel schedules for mission teams, monitoring activity and posting content for an organization’s social media channels.

God gave Andrea a heart for service as she worked with people with disabilities throughout her life. She attended college in Sioux Falls, SD with an emphasis in English and Art, and had returned there, shortly after a photography internship in Chicago. Andrea was working as Lead Residential Assistant, for one of the homes of Dakotabilites, when she felt God tugging on her heart to move. After a month of prayer and talking with her family and close friends, Andrea conceded to God’s calling and moved to Pella in August of 2012. A few weeks following the move, she was introduced to her husband while attending Covenant Reformed Church of Pella. They were married 8 months later.

For two years Andrea worked with On With Life, based out of Ankeny, and commuted to individuals homes, providing services to assist them in remaining independent, while living with a brain injury. Many times, Andrea thought of looking for another job, to lessen her commute so that she and her husband could begin a family, and many times, through doors closing, God gently reminded her He has a plan.

Andrea met Liz Clarke, manager of the Mango Tree, shortly before it opened in May of 2014. Liz and Andrea discussed volunteer opportunities and Andrea signed up as a regular closer for the store. “God began stirring my heart for missions the more I learned about Haiti. When Liz informed me they were hiring for a position in the office, I began asking God if this is where His plan has been for me all along. I am so thrilled to work with MH4H, and I am humbled God is choosing to use me in this way.”

Please welcome Andrea to the team.
