We are safely in Savanette after a very full day.  Other than losing a piece of luggage in the Miami airport Thursday evening, the flights went well, and we passed through immigration and customs smoothly.  Dave prayed for the safe return of missing luggage at our evening meal, and Friday morning the luggage was at the front desk of our hotel.  Praise God!

Zeke met us right on time at Port-au-Prince airport, however Douby (doo-bee) was at least an hour late due to poor roads near Pignon.  We made a number of stops to purchase a voltage inverter, batteries, and other supplies for the compound.  For all of the newbies on our trip, it was our first experience of the Port-au-Prince traffic.  Now we know why vehicles have horns.

The trip back to Savanette was the highlight of the day with a lot of prayers being fervently sent as we neared Pignon.  Recent rains made the roads beyond the pavement, by all Iowa standards, totally impassable.  Douby, driving a rear wheel drive van proved to be an absolute magician, managing roads which all of us would have given up on.  The angels were certainly with us and also with a lot of Haitians on foot, motorcycles and trucks.  How we navigated without serious incident could only happen with Divine guidance.

“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”  Ps 40:2

Carol decided this should be our verse for the day.  After being served a fantastic meal by our Haitian cooks, we spent some time debriefing for the day.  Everyone is ready for a restful night in the wonderful new facilities in Savanette.
