Jobs, Skills, Transformation: The Impact of Economic Empowerment in Haiti

by | Jun 1, 2024

Fighting poverty and building a brighter future are at the heart of Many Hands’ mission. Economic development is our guiding light in Haiti, a country where jobs are scarce. We act as a catalyst for change, empowering individuals and communities to unlock their full potential.

Many Hands’ approach to economic development is rooted in focused impact, recognizing that sustainable change requires strategic interventions. We lay the foundation for long-term success, equipping individuals with the education and skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Employment is a central pillar of our economic strategy. By providing nearly 150 jobs on our four, soon-to-be five campuses, Many Hands not only empowers individuals to support themselves and their families but also stimulates the local economy. In addition,  our construction projects (Safe Homes & Concrete floors) employ dozens of locals on a regular basis, and by sourcing materials locally, every aspect of our operations is designed to maximize impact and foster self-reliance.

In our pursuit of economic empowerment, Many Hands recognizes the transformative potential of partnerships. Enter Vi Bella, a social enterprise and job creation ministry with a shared commitment to empowering artisans in Haiti and Mexico. Through training, support, and the creation of marketable goods, Vi Bella empowers individuals to earn sustainable incomes while fostering a community centered around faith and fellowship.

The partnership between Many Hands and Vi Bella is a natural extension of their shared values and complementary missions. By leveraging Vi Bella’s expertise in artisanal craftsmanship and job creation, we have expanded our impact, creating even more opportunities for individuals to thrive.

The partnership between Many Hands and Vi Bella exemplifies the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change. Already, it has resulted in the creation of new jobs and opportunities for artisans like Elirose, whose life has been transformed by the provision of steady employment. She said, “With what I have learned from the training, God has allowed me to find the resources for me to be able to buy food for my family.”

The economic development focus of Many Hands has far-reaching benefits. The ripple effects of the jobs created and sustained, extend beyond the individuals directly employed, positively impacting families and entire communities as they spend their income in their local economy.

Would you support our efforts to raise $100,000 to fund the future efforts of our partnership with Vi Bella and other economic development programs to continue to provide new jobs and support a sustainable economy in Pignon?
