This was written for the Fall 2011 newsletter by Tim Brand, then President of the Board and now Executive Leader.
To the MH4H Family of Friends and Supporters,
Having recently returned from Haiti, I can say I have never been more optimistic about the future of both Haiti and MH4H’s work there.
I had the opportunity at the end of September to take a five day trip to Haiti, with the intentions of getting updates on our current projects, meeting with our strategic partners, and forming new partners in areas MH4H has not previously been involved. I came away humbled and challenged, as our call is overwhelming at times, but God has been faithful in providing people, projects, and gracious spirits to meet this call. Our mission remains the same – To Make God Real for the People of Haiti. This is not accomplished just by proclaiming the Good News, but by actually living the Good News both here and in Haiti. It is caught, not taught, and we remain vigilant on being the hands and feet of Christ.
As you will see on this website, God has been at work. I hope you will take the time to read the articles, as they will give a better understanding of what MH4H has been doing and how we will continue to serve moving forward.
MH4H is blessed with the right people saying “Yes” to what God is doing and helping move our organization forward. I am extremely excited to be working with Silentor Esthil-Henderson in Gonaives. God has entrusted him with an incredible vision, and we are excited to help make it a reality. We have been blessed with five interested couples responding to the call to be Short Term Project Managers onsite for us, giving one month of their time to the mission. It is invaluable for us to have people on the ground working daily with Haitians and US mission teams and communicating back to everyone here to better understand the needs and opportunities for the future. We continue to keep our eyes and ears open for the right person/couple to answer the call to provide this for the area through a two-year commitment.
I’m thankful for Jared and Stacey Nikkel for saying “yes” and being the tip of the sword to break the darkness. God continues to reveal His plans to help MH4H push the sword deeper and deeper into our enemy, allowing Christ’s light and love to shine in dark places.
Greater things are yet to come, and we pray God will continue to provide the resources and talents of many to make a difference to meet the challenges of the day. Thank you for your previous support and prayers. As we persevere in our call, I’m asking for you to continue to be a part of this in whatever way God calls. Listen and pray and He will reveal. Put your seatbelts on – it is time to go!
