Many Hands is a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty through long-term, locally led community development. Since 2008, Many Hands has partnered with communities in Haiti and now also serves families in Abaco, Bahamas, through integrated programs in health, education, housing, agriculture, economic opportunity, and leadership development. Nearly 150 Haitian staff lead the work in Haiti, while a network of Many Hands Thrift Market stores helps fund the mission, allowing more donor dollars to directly support life-changing programs.

We offer two strategic child sponsorship programs that allow you to walk alongside a child in Haiti during their most critical stages of development.
First 1,000 Days Program
Love is showing up at the starting line.
When a new baby arrives, it is a beautiful, fragile season. For many parents, it can also feel incredibly overwhelming. Love looks like stepping into that space, offering a listening ear, and giving moms and dads the exact tools they need to give their babies the best possible start.
What is the First 1,000 Days Program? Through the First 1,000 Days Program, Many Hands empowers families during a child’s most crucial development period: the window from conception to their second birthday. We know these early days set the trajectory for a child’s entire life, so we focus on holistic health and family support to break cycles of poverty before they can take root.
What are the program benefits?
-
Medical and Nutritional Care: We connect families to essential medical resources and provide nutritional support, from infant care basics to planting fruit trees for sustainable, long-term nourishment.
-
Educational Classes: Local experts lead hands-on classes covering health, social development, and vital parenting skills.
-
Spiritual Support: We walk alongside parents in faith, providing spiritual care and community so they never have to navigate the early years alone.
How much does sponsorship cost? Sponsorship for the First 1,000 Days Program costs $40 per month.
When you sponsor a family in this program, you are not just making a donation. You are standing in their corner, cheering them on, and helping plant the seeds for a beautiful future.
School of Light Program
What if changing the world is as simple as pulling up a chair next to someone and saying, “I’m with you”?
Love isn’t a theory. It’s something we do. It looks like walking alongside a family, linking arms, and cheering them on as they build a beautiful future.
What is the School of Light Program? Through the School of Light Program, Many Hands provides students with a world-class, culturally sensitive education. We know that quality education is a powerful catalyst for breaking cycles of poverty and fostering sustainable development in the communities we serve.
This program serves students in their first three years of preschool (PS1 to PS3). It is designed to give parents the tools they need to be the absolute heroes of their own stories, building a foundation so their kids can soar long after preschool is done.
What are the program benefits?
-
Individualized Attention: A low teacher-to-student ratio ensures every child is seen, known, and supported.
-
Holistic Growth: We focus comprehensively on cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual development.
-
Family Empowerment: We equip local caregivers to independently support their children’s educational journey.
How much does child sponsorship cost? Sponsorship for the School of Light Program costs $70 per month.
When you sponsor a child, you aren’t just funding a seat in a classroom. You are stepping into their story and sparking hope for their whole family.

FREQUENTLY ASKED Questions
FREQUENTLY ASKED Questions
Why can I trust Many Hands’ child sponsorship program?
Many Hands currently holds the Platinum Seal of Transparency with Candid, along with accreditation with other nonprofit and financial evaluating organizations. We regularly undergo evaluation to ensure continued transparency about our finances. Learn more on our financial accountability page.
How does Many Hands approach Christian child sponsorship?
Our sponsorship approach is rooted in a Christian mission of love in action, supporting the whole child spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Your support reflects Jesus’ call to care for children and the most vulnerable, providing not just material resources but dignity and hope.
What happens to my donations?
Your monthly sponsorship contribution goes directly to your chosen program. These funds are used locally to ensure consistent, culturally-sensitive support that strengthens children, families, and their communities.
How does Haiti child education benefit from sponsorship?
Education in Haiti has been severely disrupted by social instability and school closures. Quality schooling becomes a catalyst for change, enabling children to learn, grow, and build a future beyond poverty. Education can also be a critical part of Haiti family empowerment. When you sponsor a child through a structured educational program, your gift helps pay for teachers, supplies, meals, spiritual formation, and more.
