Players from the Pella Christian and Pella High volleyball teams are organizing a Better Together night on behalf of Many Hands for Haiti for their rival game on October 1. The teams will be warming up in special shirts, and tables will be set up to raise awareness about the work going on in Haiti. Fans can even help make a recycled diaper for the Bundled Bottoms program for an infant in Haiti.
“We just thought this was a great way for our two schools to come together for a great cause,” stated senior defensive specialist Morgan De Ruiter. De Ruiter went to Haiti with the Pella Christian Winterim trip and came up with the idea of holding a Better Together night. Although the teams are rivals, De Ruiter knows fans and players alike can come together to help the people she met in Haiti.

Both of the programs are personally connected to the work Many Hands for Haiti does. Both of the head coaches, as well as some of the players, have gone and served in Haiti. They know the families, the children, and the communities in Haiti. They experienced a life transformation and desire to share with others to help provide a hand up.
Executive Leader Tim Brand said, “It is exciting to see the two volleyball programs come together to draw attention on things bigger than themselves. They are using their platform of high school athletics for the benefit of those who have no voice, which is outstanding.”
The JV volleyball game starts at 5:30 on Tuesday, October 1 with Varsity following. The game is at Pella Christian High School. We would love to see you there!
