The memory of Chalissa, the dear 3-year-old girl who lost her fight with eye cancer in September, is still very fresh in our hearts. We were all heart-broken when she passed away, but now rejoice knowing that she is with her Heavenly Father, free from pain and suffering.
Chalissa this year
We were very touched to recently receive this note from Chalissa’s adopted father, Rimbol:

To: Many Hands for Haiti
I am so thankful that God is that awesome in my life and in the life of late Chalissa as well.
Christi and Craig, I can’t find a very to thank you guys for what you have done for Chalissa, even is she is with the Lord right now. But you have done what you could to help me with her and I would consider myself ungrateful if I didn’t stop and thank you for everything.
I will continue to pray for you guys. May God continue to bless you guys for the good work you are doing in the community. I have realized that the love of Jesus is real through your actions.
God bless you all!
Sincerely yours,
Rimbol Jacques
It is always hard to see the work God does through hardship and suffering, especially when it involves children. But we “…know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Rom 8:28). We know we have been called to ministry in Haiti. When we come alongside kids like Chalissa and pour God’s love into her life, and then see the fruit that comes after, we know God is at work.
This is exactly what we are trying to do. As God calls us to walk along side the people of Pignon, He leads us to serve in love and make Himself real in this broken world. We ask you to continue to pray with us for the people of Haiti, so that more people like Rimbol “…realize that the love of Jesus is real through (our) actions.”
