My first time being out of the country AND my first time on a real live mission trip! Hi, I’m Brianna Carroll.  I am 14 and I am part of Nathanael Shoemaker’s Eagle Scout project. It is officially the end of day one of the week we plan to spend here. First of all, I was in awe at the beauty of Haiti! Flying in I could not keep my eyes off of the scenery. Unfortunately, the airport was a zoo! People would try to take our cart of luggage and even through our firm and persistent “no’s”, they still insisted they needed to watch the cart, which consequently, resulted in an outrageous tip! But despite the hectic airport and the lack of sleep the night before, I was energetic, and ready to get to work. Throughout the day I was amazed at the different sights and living conditions the Haitians call home.  We endured a 5 hour trip that was bumpy, windy, thrilling, and many other intense adjectives. I am too tired to think of right now.    During the day, I was able to ponder many things. I learned a lot, including a few words and phrases in Creole. Even though I am pretty tired after a hard evening’s work of packing food for families, I am very excited to see how we will be used in the next several days.

P.S. The Haitian cooks were awesome!!!

New sights and experiences will abound for the team this week.
