This is written by David Samson, a member of the ISU trip. They will be serving in Gonaives, Haiti over the next week. This is David’s second time to Haiti, but first time with MH4H.
A group of six Iowa State students landed safely in Haiti this morning; Kyle Pals, Katy Lowe, Emily Morley, Allison Myers, Colt Freese, and David Samson.

We arrived in Haiti at 9:30am this morning. Everything went smoothly and everyone got their luggage. After a three hour drive to Gonaives we got unpacked  at the mission house and had lunch. For lunch we had Haitian spaghetti and mangos. After lunch we rode a Taptap (Haitian Taxi) to the church/ school. Silentor showed us around the newly built school. After we went to the school, Silentor took us to an orphanage to show us all the kids. Then, we took a hike to see the gardens. After the hike we went back to the school to watch the kids play soccer. We watched the kids play a half of soccer and then we headed back to Mission house to have beans and rice for dinner. The rest of the night is devoted to getting things planned for tomorrow and playing some card games.
